Bone Marrow Transplant Center And Hematology

Welcome from the Program Director

Welcome to the Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT) Center and the hematology Unit at Nasser Institute Hospital for Treatment and Research

April of 1997 witnessed the opening of the bone marrow transplantation center by his Excellency the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mohamed Hosny Mubarak. We offer allogeneic and autologous bone marrow transplants since then.

The BMT Program offers patients peripheral blood stem cell transplants and marrow grafting from matched family members as donors, as well as autologous transplants (using a patient's own stem cells). The program provides transplantation services for patients with malignant hematologic diseases as acute leukemia and chronic myeloid leukemia and non-malignant hematologic diseases, such as aplastic anemia or thalassemia major anemia.

While the primary focus of the BMT Program is to provide excellent, compassionate care to patient nation wide, research to improve the care of patients today and in the future is also an important aspect of the program's mission.

BMT team physicians are hematologists/oncologists who have experience and expertise in treating and caring for patients undergoing blood and marrow transplantation
