1) Hematology Division:

Diagnostic Testing:

General hematology automated cell counts and differential counts)

  • Peripheral blood smear morphology

  • Bone marrow processing and interpretation

  • Coagulation study department 

Specialized Hematopathology testing including:

Immunophenotyping

Glycosylated hemoglobin

Cytochemistry

Fetal-maternal hemorrhage

Morphologycytology 

Hemoglobinopathies

2) Chemistry Division

Diagnostic Testing:

General Chemistry : Blood & body fluid Chemistry

Specialized Chemistry testing including:

  • DRUGS

  • Hormones.

  • Tumor markers.

  • Protein electrophoresis.

3) Immunology Division:

Diagnostic Testing:

General : Auto antibodies

Specialized Immunology testing including:

  • H L A  typing for Kidney & Bone Marrow transplantation.

  • Immunofixation.

  • Branched DNA.

  • Qualitative PCR

4) Microbiology Division:

Diagnostic Testing:     Bacteriology.      Mycobacteriology.       Mycology.      Virology.     Serology.

5) Blood Bank /Pheresis Division:

Blood Donation:

There is always a need for blood donors. Modern medical care, including Surgery and medical treatment for many diseases is not possible without the use of blood products. A shortage of blood products means that Someone may not get prompt, adequate care.

The following tests are mandatory on all units of blood collected for transfusion:

  • ABO group and Rh type

  • R.P.R. test for syphilis

  • E.L.I.S.A Tests for:

    • HIV-1+2 antibody

    • Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg)

    • Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg)

6) Histopathology:

The Pathology laboratory  at Nasser's Institute  handles an average  of  4000 Specimens each year. These Include histopathologic, cytologic and Immunopathologic  Specimens, The  staff offer in  addition O.R.  Frozen Section Service as well as in lab FAN biopsy cytology. In cooperation with the woman's Health  center in the  hospital,  the  laboratory offer an early detection service for  Female  genital malignancies. An average  of 1000 Pap- Smears are examined yearly.
