 In the theatre

  • Once the patient arrive in the transfer area, he is re-checked by the consultant anesthetist and taken to theatre.

  • The patient will have a peripheral cannula inserted under local anesthetic, connected to ECG and saturation monitor and given a sedative and his antibiotic dose.

  • The patient is then has a radial line in his left hand (sparing his right hand for radial artery harvest).

  • Patient is then anaesthetized and a triple lumen central line is inserted under complete aseptic techniques.

  • Patient is then positioned by the registrar and a folly's catheter is inserted and connected to a  urine collection bag.
