In the ward
Once the patient arrive to the ward, he is received by the head-nurse and the nurse in charge and progress notes are made.
An INR is made if the patients receiving Warfarin
An infusion chart is made if the patient has IV standing orders.
Blood transfusion are strictly managed through the blood transfusion chart.
His vital signs are charted, given an analgesic and left to sleep for 2-3 hours before starting mobilization.
Patient vital signs are charted every 4 hours for the first day then every 6 hours thereafter.
Patients are encouraged to mobilize from the first day.
Patients are seen by the cardiologist and surgical registrars twice per day.
