Registrars

  • Registrar training start by spending the first three months of his job in the ICU.  He is treated as an observer.  If he passes a simple exam he passes forwards to the following phase.

  • The fourth month is spent in theatre under supervision of our senior Perfusionist to be trained on the basics of heart-lung machine.

  • The fifth month he is spent in the ward where he is trained under the supervision of our cardiologists.

  • Starting from the sixth month, he is allowed to be attached to one of our consultants to be involved in the surgical training program under supervision of a more senior registrar.

  • After the first year, he is attached to the a surgical consultant as an independent registrar with rotation every three months.

  • Registrars are encouraged to pass their master degree of surgery during their four year training period they spend in the department.
