  Surgery

  • The nurse washes and gown and prepare the instruments and drapes before the patient enters to the  (according to infection control protocol for theatres).

  • The patient is then painted with Betadine twice and wait until it dries.  Incision sites are then sprayed with ADH (alcohol based).

  • The patient is then draped and the incision sites covered with iodine-impregnated adhesive plastic sheets.

  • Anesthesia is maintained by incremental doses of muscle relaxant and either Propafol infusion; inhalational Iso-flurane; Sevo-flurane; or a combination according to the consultant anesthetist in charge.

  • Anesthetic registrar with a master degree is present in each room at all times.

  • Surgery is then undertaken according to the protocol of the designated consultant
