Cardiac Surgery
started as sporadic cases with the opening of
Nasser Institute in the year 1988.
•The
number of cases performed was 1 case per day (at
most) and they were all private cases performed
more or less by more than 25 cardiac surgeons
allowed to work in this place when they send a
case.
•By
the year 1994, we were still working in one
theatre not dedicated to Cardiac Surgery but the
work was more organized and we managed to
perform 300 open heart cases during this year
with a mortality 8%.
