Spinal Unit Nasser Institute

Work started at the spinal unit in 1996  and the unit was officially opened by His Excellency President Hosny Mubarak on April 1997.

The unit is considered the first specialized, fully equipped centre in the field of spinal surgery in Egypt utilizing the latest techniques and best conservative and interventional methods of treatment of spinal disorders.

The structure and function of the spinal column are a unique ingenious combination that charactrize the Human body by the beauty of its dynamics on one hand and giving a broad field of vision on the other.

Any disturbance to this harmony causes severe changes to life style and psychic and somatic disorders.The role of spinal surgery here intervenes to restore the patient back to his normal life activities and regaining an active role in society.There are various causes for spinal disorders,either congenital,inflammatory,traumatic or neoplastic. 

This decade is considered the golden era for spine surgery. The advances that occurred caused drastic changes in the management of many cases Previously thought to be hopeless.

The unit is considered as the first specialized, fully equipped senter in the field of spinal surgery in North Africa and the Middle East utilizing the latest surgical techniques and best conservative and interventional methods of treatment of spinal disorders.
